HASSN KHAN EXHIBITION
Location: Kodak Passageway
Client: D-CAF
Scope: Curation, Design and Exhibition
The Hassan Khan exhibition was sited in what had been unutilized storefronts alongside the Kodak passageway in Downtown Cairo, designed and curated by CLUSTER to present a procession of exhibition spaces, interjecting the artist’s oeuvre amidst the public and pedestrian activities of the arcade.
This exhibition presented the first major survey of artist Hassan Khan’s work to be held in Egypt, as part of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival in 2014. While internationally celebrated, including a nomination for the Hugo Boss prize, and an early influence in Cairo’s independent art and music scene, the artist had never before presented such a large number of works in Egypt. The works spanned Khan’s diverse artistic practice, traversing a range of media: including video, sculpture, sound, photography, text, and installation.
