The experience of Auroville’s Earth Institute goes well beyond the building techniques one can learn. It represents a true interaction with a global community and unique coexistence with nature and spirituality. During the workshop, we explored the composition and nature of soil, and we explored how the sol is affected by the articulation of the spatial features and materiality of structures built using compressed earth blocks, While we still live in an economically driven globally society, the case of Auroville present an economically viable alternative to modern concrete structure, with a significantly lower carbon footprint.
