Towards Fairer City: On Housing and Mobility Challenges In Barcelona
Miquel Benedito
1. Social housing scarcity: A study of all the opportunity spots in the city shows how we could inject social housing inside the city offering a solution to urban sprawl through densification. Miquel talks more in depth about a particular proposal that suggests the recycling of obsolete infrastructures that promotes the use of private mobility to transform the city into a fairer place and reconnect it with its natural surroundings.
2. Superblocks: From an in-depth study of the urban fabric and the mobility of the city, this project suggests a radical change that would involve the whole city. It has the ambition to return the streets to pedestrians and to give its public condition back after the privatization process. By rethinking the public transportation structure and with extremely subtle methods, this project has the potential to transform Barcelona into a healthier and safer place.
