GROUNDED URBAN PRACTICES IN BERLIN
Year: 2020
Independent urban actors in Berlin, as in many other cities in Europe and across the globe, are critically engaged advocates for a more just urban environment, inclusive housing policies and diverse public spaces. While the number and impact of alternative, locally-rooted and experimental urban practitioners continues to grow worldwide, the impacts of local governments, market forces and public-private partnerships on cities receive the majority of media and research attention and so persist in public awareness. This report is part of a broader research endeavor that seeks to increase understanding of independent urban actors’ work, ideas and motivations, and highlight their importance in contemporary urban developments.
