FORMAL-INFORMAL INTERFACE: FOUR AFRICAN CITIES

The second phase of the project ‘Formal-Informal Interface’ was developed comparatively between four African cities: Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka and Ouagadougou, engaging the formal-informal interface with four themes: mobility, water infrastructure, food chain and housing development, respectively. Throughout the span of the study, a number of workshops were carried out, aiming at developing a comparative research framework between four African cities, and an exchange of methods and skills among the participating urban research initiatives from each city.
