ALONG THE LINE

“Along the Line” is a project designed and implemented by CLUSTER, with the support of the British Council as part of “Prototype City,” an urban program experimenting with new ideas to promote civic engagement that are specific to the context in several cities around the world. The project comprises a series of modular elements placed in a linear composition providing different functions spanning from recreational, educational, and cultural elements, all of which are designed to accommodate children and grownups. It has several anchor elements such as a foldable library, an expandable puppet theater box, and a series of playful elements.

PERGOLA ARTS THEATRE

Pergola Arts Theatre is a project designed and implemented by CLUSTER, in partnership with London based studio THISS Studio and Orient Productions serving as artistic consultants, with the support of Art Jameel and the British Council as part of “Anhar: Culture and Climate Platform,” under the auspices of Giza Governorate. The ten-meter-high red structure offers a dedicated space for performance and community use, introducing a bold cultural landmark to be viewed from the adjacent 6 October bridge amidst an urban landscape dominated by advertising billboards. It adopts sustainability principles through the incorporation of recyclable materials, including shading elements from recycled plastic sheets by VeryNile; flanking walls built with innovative plastic bricks from Reblox; as well as recycled plastic flooring interlocks by TileGreen. Pergola is suitable for large performances as it is equipped with the necessary sound and lighting setups and it accommodates large audiences (up to 200 seats).
